Pastor Ron Hindt moved to Houston and founded Calvary Houston in 1991. Prior to making the big move, he served in several churches. It was in 1980 when Pastor Ron joined Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa under Pastor Chuck Smith. For several years, he served as an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills, California.
Even in its early days, the vision of Calvary Houston is to “Worship the Lord, Win the Lost, Disciple the Saints, and Send the Equipped.” Through worship, discipleship, and evangelism, the church teaches members to go out with faith into their respective communities empowered by the timeless impact of God’s Word to bring real change into the lives of many. What started as a small home fellowship that was focused on contemporary worship and expositional teaching of the Bible, Calvary Houston now serves thousands of people each week. Pastor Ron Hindt and Calvary Houston Church believe that worship should be spiritual, inspirational and from the heart. It is an evangelical church that believes in a balance of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Calvary Houston’s ministry has expanded to include daily radio broadcasts of Pastor Ron’s unique, expositional style of teaching. These half-hour broadcasts, known as “Larger Than Life,” are aired daily throughout the U.S.
Pastor Ron Hindt, together with his wife Yani have three grown children, two adopted children, and two grandchildren. In leading Calvary Houston, he makes everyone who steps into the church feel that they are a part of God’s growing family.
